About this site

MyDogHatesTechnology.com was born out of my frustration with my dog Marley. No, she wasn't named after the book or the movie. When I first got her she was destructive, but only towards expensive electronics. The whole story is in my blog, "Raising a dog after college."

This site used to be my attempt at making puzzels, games, and other random web applications on a semi-regular basis. Now it's just a dumping ground for random thoughts, and a small web presence.

Newsflash! I've decommissioned my old Windows server, and replaced it with an even older, less capable ARM based Linux plug computer! SheevaPlug

  • 1.2GHz Kirkwood 88F6281 processor
  • L1 Cache: 16K Instruction + 16K Data
  • L2 Cache: 256KB
  • DDR2 400MHz, 16-bit bus
  • 512MB DDR2: 1Gb x8, 4 devices
  • 512MB NAND Flash: 4Gb x8, direct boot
  • 4 watt idle load, 5 to 6 watts at 100% cpu
  • Tomcat6, Mono, Apache2, and SVN

This plug computer pretty much takes care of all my needs. I can host webapps like this (legacy), host my svn repos, and it satisfies my Linux tinkering desires.
